Garowe, (Isbahaysi) – INTERPOL successfully extradited a fugitive murder suspect to Puntland police today. The suspect, Mohamed Omar Isse, is accused of fatally shooting Ahmed Abdullahi Mahmoud on May 17.

The Somali Police Force, in coordination with INTERPOL, issued the arrest warrant leading to Isse’s apprehension in Kenya. Upon arrival at Garowe Airport, Nugaal Regional Police Command officially received the suspect from INTERPOL officers, with the suspect’s family in attendance.

Since the re-establishment of INTERPOL’s office in Somalia in July 2021, authorities have captured several suspects who fled to neighboring countries after committing murders in Somalia. This development marks a significant step forward in ensuring justice for victims and holding fugitives accountable.
