Mogadishu (Isbahaysi) – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has successfully apprehended several individuals complicit in extortion attempts by the Khawarij. This operation is part of an ongoing effort to curb the clandestine activities of the group targeting businesspeople in Somalia.
According to the press release shared by NISA on its official X account, they have been closely monitoring these secret extortion attempts, which aim to force business owners into paying protection money. Several suspects have been detained, and the agency is actively pursuing other individuals believed to be involved in these illicit activities.
In a stern warning to the business community, NISA urged business owners to resist the Khawarij’s attempts to extort money, which is then funneled into violent activities against the Somali populace. The agency reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the property, reputation, and safety of Somali citizens.
NISA also advised the public to avoid any interaction with or areas known to be frequented by the Khawarij, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in combating such threats.
